Re: Should Ugandans Kill the gays or kill the Bill?

Willy I totally agree with you. Uganda needs a sexual revolution and to be sexually liberated!

We are so up-tight when it comes to freely enjoying our sexuality in the different colors that it comes, and i believe it is because of this hush-hush attitude towards sex and sexuality that we as Africans have failed to control the HIV/AIDS pandemic. I mean just look up north, with all their red light districts, X-rated movies, and sex toys and shops, they are not dying like us!! WHY!?
Kampala, open up and lets start to see sex shops, sleaze bars, strip tease clubs, gay pride parades, and all these things which we indulge in secretly anyway.
One Ugandan radio presenter once said that she hated one thing about Ugandans - pretense, they fear sex like the plague, the only thing they do not fear is being corrupt (my own emphasis). In Uganda you will most likely be ostracized because you enjoy sex but should you steal public resources - HERO!

Re: Should Ugandans Kill the gays or kill the Bill?

The bill needs total ban coz it violates human rights. All homosexuals, gays, lesibians and prostitutes are human beings who have reasons for their decisions.
It is realy unfair since most of the countries where common law originates, homosexuality is legalised but is punishable in Uganda. If it is not associated with rape or defilement, then homosexuals sholuld be granted their rights.

Re: Should Ugandans Kill the gays or kill the Bill?

Uganda is a signatory to many international documents such as " UN Covenant on Political and Civil Rights" by legislating on in areas which will constitutues to voilations of international law, then they are commiting crimes under the international law.

Ugandan gays and lesbians will be able to exercise the rights as citizens of Uganda by reporting such behaviour of the Government of Uganda to the right committees. Such violations and abuse of citizens by the Government of Uganda is immoral in this time of era. What business has the government got to interfer into the affairs of two consenting adults?

Article 7 of the UN Covenant of Political and Civil Rights, states that "No one shall be subjected to tortue or cruel, inhuman, degrading treatment or punishment" Furthermore, Article 9(1) " Everyone has a right to to liberty" this means that gays and lesbians has the right to live as citizens of Uganda and choose their sexuality and whom they form relationships with.

By Uganda passing this anti- homosexuality Bill, they are further in violations of the followings article on Political and Civil Rights 17 which states that, "No one will be subjected to arbitary or unlawful interference to his privacy" Again, it's clearly that Uganda by passing this legislation are in further violations of legislating a discriminatory Act which will discriminates its citizen on the ground of their sexuality

Passing such a legislation, although are keeping the Christian Fundamentalists happy, it's another indication that the Uganda are allowing religions into the parliament. Religion belongs in church and not in parliament, this principle should be non negogiatable.

Finally, I think that Uganda should kill the Bill, it will make Uganda look backward and as a country that is intolerate and treats its citizen with no respect.

Monique
